Portugal is a country that has been on the tourist map for many years but unlike many countries that have had a tourist industry for any great length of time it still has many resorts that are relatively untouched by the tourist industry in a bad way. With only a little bit of research it is possible to find a beautifully secluded resort that will have the feel of Portugal from many years ago. This is the beauty of Portugal, a very small country that attracts so many tourists back year after year. For this reason Portugal is seen by many as one of the jewels in Europe's tourism crown, with its wonderfully appealing all year round climate as well as its gorgeous fine sandy beaches and crystal clear waters and picturesque fishing villages with narrow streets and white washed houses. In the busy world that we live in today there is so much going on to distract us from the reality of life that it is not surprising that we are seeing obesity levels rising in nearly every developed country on the planet. Many of us have grown up in the age of travel, traveling the world is much easier now than it ever has been and more of us are traveling further and further afield. We now visit places that 20 years ago we could only have dreamed of visiting, and then we return home wondering about what if we could live in a different country? Where would we go and what would we do, I would imagine that for the majority of people the places that they visit on their holidays are much more exciting than their home town. Because it is getting so much easier to get to far of places and the lines of communication are so much better it is so much easier for us to imagine living in a foreign land and getting away from the rat race, and not necessarily to earn more money, the vast majority of people who contemplate moving abroad site a change of lifestyle as the main reason for wanting to move. For most people two weeks vacation a year is the highlight of their year. For many people the thought of two weeks on a sun kissed beach in the summer is the only thing that keeps them going through the long cold and dark winter days. But what we think of as a summer holiday is somewhat different than what we would have looked to book 10 – 15 years ago. Back then we were all in the laps of a travel agent who would point us in the right direction of a hotel in a location that they think might be suitable for our needs, but then the inter web came along. If nothing else the inter web has allowed people to research their summer holiday and discover new destinations that they would not usually have thought about or even have heard of, the inter web allows you to widen your travel horizons and helps you to seek out new and exciting places. Traveling the world used to be something that really wealthy people did for six months of the year and that students did for a gap year before they entered the harsh world of corporate business but now with the development of the inter web more and more of us are realizing that not only is the world a lot smaller than we thought but it is a lot more accessible and affordable than we ever managed. There are things in life that we would all love to do and there are places in the world that we would love to visit but never ever seem to get round to doing any of them. Over the past 10 – 15 years our holiday tastes have changed dramatically.
