Opinions And Facts On Global Warming

Tuesday, April 24th, 2012

First of all it is necessary to understand that what global warming controversy is, and then you will able to find the solution and options to deal with that. It is a debate which discussed the issues of increasing air temperature from the last century, and the predictions and consequences that we have to face in return. The other issue that comes into main scene from the last few years is that are these changes are normal and within the climatic variations or unprecedented.

Global warming exists even in the mid of 18th century as well but at that time it was not controversial. All the scientists who are dealing in this field have accepted this as a normal routine. But the real thing on which the global warming controversy focuses is the factors that cause the global warming. These factors increase magnificently after the 2nd world war. The debate is still going on upon the other factors that can cause this warming and what are the useful and harmful effects of this global warming. After some debate it is commonly recognized that there are more harmful effects of this global warming then its useful and beneficial points. So there are some actions and options that have been put forward by the experts to control that global warming and slower down its side effects. The main issues that these experts have discussed regarding global warming controversy is that they are largely harmful to the overall environment, and the activities performed by the human beings are the biggest reason for this global warming. And the last point of discussion is to curtail these activities to control the and lessen the effects of these coming issues. So these are the points which are the basis of the controversy and mainly on the economic and political grounds not on the scientific grounds.

So we talk about the global warming then we must have to take the steps to reduce it by adopting the measures recommended by the experts of the field because they are the people who know well that how to deal with this issue and if we do not follow their instruction and enters into any global warming controversy then we must have to be ready to face the consequences. The future generations then have all the right to blame us because then at their time they have to face the really big issues and challenges to deal with this global warming.

What’s the Truth About Global Warming

Wednesday, March 21st, 2012

Global Warming or global climate change has been in the news for about a decade now with governments and corporations cooperating to reverse the greenhouse effect of trapping more heat that gradually increase surface temperatures. These gasses are mostly from human activity resulting from the use of fossil fuels in cars, coal-fired power plants, heating systems from fuels or natural gasses and appliances that release CO2.

Deforestation contributes to the problem as increasingly less CO2 are converted to oxygen. Not only does increased CO2 traps heat, it also traps methane gasses that occur naturally with decomposing organic waste from garbage landfills and decaying plants and dead animals as well as the processing of fossil fuels.

Scientific statistical data shows that the last 150 years of the industrial age saw the increase of CO2 by 31% and over the same period, atmospheric methane rose by 151%. The consequence is increased heat being trapped in the atmosphere with less escaping into space. The phenomenon alters climates and weather patterns that cause severe and more frequent storms, coastal flooding from a melting polar ice cap and the prolonging draughts and winters.

But is this just a hoax?

Recent developments have alleged a “Climategate” conspiracy that exposes the global warming scare as a fraudulent attempt on a global scale by corporations and governments in collusion with dishonest scientists. In November last year, the interest was aflame with news of an earth-shaking scandal from leaked emails and data from the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia in the UK that has served the primary source and advocacy on the theory of Global Warming and served the motive guidance behind the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

The leaked information from download files showed more than 4000 documents that abundantly point to a falsification of data used by scientists to support of the Global Warming scare. These documents have been authenticated and provided clear evidence of a conspiracy further fueled by the CRU’s repeated refusal to release their computer model data for the basis of the Global Warming theories they have foisted on unsuspecting governments, people and industries.

Who Benefits?

The debate is now simmering and has polarized the scientific community on the issue. The bottomline seems to be, who will benefit if it’s a hoax? The Global warming scare has effectively put car makers to come out with new hybrid non-carbon-emitting vehicles. It has compelled oil companies to look for alternative power sources and has certainly impacted our lifestyles with impositions on our consuming habits and to use more earth-friendly products. There’s big money involved, no doubt. On the other hand, if global warming is a fraud, the big oil companies would be the first to benefit as they can continue spewing CO2 into the atmosphere. Time to pause and think.

Greenland Ice Drilling Project May Hold the Key to Climate Change

Wednesday, March 7th, 2012

A new discovery has recently brought many questions to the future of climate change with the discovery of an ancient ice core that was drilled out in Greenland when a team of international scientists working on the North Greenland Eemian Ice Drilling (NEEM) project hit bedrock. The team achieved this monumental find after a full two summers of work, which involved drilling down more than 1.5 miles to try and assess the risks of abrupt future climate change. Some of the key implications and findings surrounding this find include the following:

- The ice core originates from the Eemian interglacial period, which was from about 115,000 to 130,000 years ago.

- The temperatures at this time were 3.6 to 5.4 degrees Fahrenheit above today’s temperatures.

- The Eemian period was the most recent interglacial period on Earth.

- During this period there was a huge deal less ice on Greenland, and in addition to this, sea levels were 15 feet or more higher than today.

- Annual ice layers that had formed in Greenland over millions of years through compressed snow showed interesting facts about past temperatures, precipitation levels and the contents of ancient atmospheres.

- Ice cores from previous ice drilling projects indicated that temperatures had risen in the Northern Hemisphere by more than 20 degrees Fahrenheit in the space of 50 years.

- This latest project to remove ice cores give a far more accurate indication of past changes in temperatures and greenhouse gas concentrations during the Eemian, giving extremely important and beneficial data of climate change on Earth.

- Scientists state that the ice cores will have rich DNA and pollen which will give data on plants that were present in Greenland before it was emerged in ice.

- Some parts of the ice just above the bedrock in the location go beyond the Eemian interglacial period and even into the previous ice age – containing rocks and other debris that have not seen sunlight in over a hundred thousand years.

- A key part of the research project is to determine how much smaller the Greenland ice sheet was 120,000 years ago, at which time the temperatures were much higher than present day temperatures – which could give key findings on temperature change trends.

The general state of the Earth’s climate is largely affected by how much heat is stored in the atmosphere. The causes of climate change is not only due to man-made pollution of the atmosphere but also because of changes in the amount of greenhouse gasses in the air which have occurred naturally during the history of the Earth. Then there are also other processes that change the climate of the earth very, very slowly over millions of years. This is why research projects like the NEEM ice drilling project in Greenland are essential for us to understand these natural processes.

Much has been said about climate change over the last few years and with remarkable findings such as this ice core, it shows yet again how many secrets the ice holds, for our planet and beyond.

Three Useful Charities You Could Donate To

Friday, March 12th, 2010

Many individuals think about donating to charity, especially around the holiday season, but many people are unsure as to which charities are legit. There are so many different charities to choose from but the sad case about donating is that in many cases you do now know for sure how much of your money those in need even get. There have been numerous scams in the past that have gotten people to donate to either non-existent charities or charities that keep much of the money for themselves so it is understandable why people would want to be cautious. But just because people have been burned in the past does not mean that there are not useful charities out there that desperately need donations. There are plenty of charities that will actually use your money to make the life of someone else better. And you only have to donate as much as you feel comfortable donating so you never have to feel pressured if you are donating to a worthy charity. Here is a list of three useful charities that always need money that you could donate too and what kind of charities they are. For more information on how to set up a donation account you should research the specific charity further online.

One of the most worthy charities that you could donate to in my opinion is the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. St. Jude’s is dedicated to researching and finding cures for life threatening diseases in children, particularly the various forms of cancer. Children who are sent to the hospital are sent regardless of whether or not the parents can pay for them to be there. This is a trustworthy charity that puts a good portion of the money they receive directly into research and care and helps those that are the most helpless and innocent in this world.

Save the Children is another very worthy charity that is always in need of more funding. This particular charity organization seeks funds to be used to help children all over the world have opportunities that they otherwise would not and also uses funds to aid children and their families in disaster situations. Donors also have the opportunity to sponsor a specific child which they can keep in contact with and follow them through their journeys. Innocent children throughout the world need the help of those more fortunate and they are the surely the most deserving of such help.

Finally, a charity that is always researching new ways to protect and repair our planet and one that needs all the funding that it can get is the Environmental Defense Fund. Research conducted with funds from this charity organization will help find ways to slow down the process of global warming and discover innovative ideas regarding how we can live more environmentally friendly lives.

With so many charity organizations vying for your money it can be hard to choose which on you think deserves it most. These are just a few that seem to do constant good with the money they raise and are a few great choice for donating to.

Landform Destruction is Worse Than Global Warming

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Many of you have read or seen in the news how a lot of the global warming gurus have been skewing climate records to make global warming seem like it is real. People have fallen for it for over 30 years while people have made billions off the lies. The mainstream media still does not like to talk about this as a possible fraud case. It also seems the governments do not know what to believe. No matter what side of the issues you are on about global warming you do not know what the facts are or what really to believe.

One more serious issue that needs to be talked about that actually effects the world is how people are changing landforms. It can be studied a lot easier than global warming. The real facts are also actually out there when compared to the questionable facts on global warming. Changing landforms is more alarming. It is actually astonishing more people have not picked up on this alarming cause. It has been going on for centuries.

New Orleans is a classic example of landforms changing for the worse. Many parts of New Orleans use to be a swampy area. Hurricanes could blow into land with no worries of harming humans. The land then changed to benefit people and give them a place to stay. For the people to stay in the city of New Orleans they had to be protected from hurricanes with levees. The land itself should have told the people designing this area should have never been changed in the first place. They ruined natural habitat to stay there. They also put themselves in danger in the landform they lived in. Changing this landform had a negative impact on the people that chose to live there.

Changing landforms can benefit and have negative impacts on people. The example of New Orleans was a negative impact. Changing landforms can have a far more negative impact on the environment. It has been factually proven, unlike the so called man made global warming or the newer term, climate change. Take a look at people who have changed the flows of rivers. This has caused the destruction of fish and animals. It even has caused the extinction of some animals.

Cutting down forests is another example of changing landforms that have had a negative impact on our world. This has also caused the death and even extinction of some animals. We hear about owls, leopards and other types of animals that are in the endangered species list because their homes are being destroyed. We also have fewer trees to clean up the carbon dioxide in air that creates more pollution. Changing forests can have a very negative impact on our world.

Changing landforms can also have a negative impact on the weather. Flattening out lands can create more winds and change weather patterns. This can cause more rain in an area or even draught. Changing weather is natural but changing landforms can cause unnatural change. Something, we as people, need to think about.

To live and survive, we do need to change landforms. However, we need to really study the effects of changing landforms can have on our environment and world. There are real facts that changing landforms can have negative effects on animals, weather and the environment. We do not really know if global warming is real or not. More people need to focus on helping landforms survive than global warming. Only change what actually needs to changed.
